HE351VE 3799833 Turbocharger for 6.7L Dodge Ram Cummins 2007-2012

HE351VE

The HE351VE is the Holset VGT turbocharger for the 6.7L Dodge Ram Cummins ISB diesel, used in the Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks from 2007 to 2012. This is one of the most popular turbo replacements in the light-duty diesel market. The HE351VE uses a VGT vane ring with an electronic actuator for precise boost control across the full RPM range. Holset part 3799833, with Dodge/Mopar cross-reference 68002428AA. This listing is for the turbo assembly without the electronic actuator. If your existing actuator tests good, reuse it and run ECM calibration after install. Built new with all new components, dynamically balanced, ships with gaskets. We supply diesel shops, fleet operators, and distributors.

FAQ

The HE351VE (3799833 / 68002428AA) fits the 2007-2012 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins ISB diesel engine. Cross-reference numbers include 3770973, 2834900, 2834955, 4043137, and 2882075.

No. The 2013+ Ram 6.7L uses the HE300VG, which is a completely different turbo. The HE351VE only fits 2007-2012 trucks.

No. This is the turbo assembly only. Reuse your existing actuator if it tests good and run ECM calibration after install. Many VGT issues on the 6.7L Dodge are actually actuator failures, not turbo failures — diagnose separately before ordering.

Limp mode or derate, P2262/P2263 turbo underboost/overboost codes, poor throttle response, black smoke under load, and oil in the intake tract. Check VGT vane movement and actuator response first — stuck vanes and failed actuators are more common than bearing failures on 6.7L trucks.

Brand new, 100% new components, dynamically balanced. Ships with gaskets. No core charge. One-year unlimited-mileage warranty.

Yes. We stock HE351VE turbos in the US and supply diesel shops, fleet operators, and distributors. Volume pricing available.

HE351VE for 6.7L Dodge Ram Cummins: The 2007-2012 Turbo

The 2007-2012 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins ISB use the HE351VE VGT turbo. This was the first generation of the 6.7L Cummins in the Ram, and the HE351VE was a major step up from the fixed-geometry HE351CW used on the previous 5.9L trucks. It brought VGT technology to the pickup truck market for the first time in a Dodge Cummins application.

HE351VE (2007-2012) vs HE300VG (2013+)

In 2013, Dodge switched from the HE351VE to the HE300VG for the 6.7L Cummins Ram. These two turbos are completely different and do not interchange:

Common failure patterns on the 6.7L Dodge

  • VGT vane sticking — the number-one failure on the 6.7L Cummins turbo. Soot from EGR jams the vane ring. Symptoms: limp mode, P2262/P2263 codes, poor throttle response, black smoke.
  • Actuator failure — the electronic actuator motor or gears fail. VGT position codes appear. Test the actuator separately before replacing the entire turbo — many shops replace the turbo when only the actuator needs replacing.
  • Bearing wear — shaft play after 150k-250k miles on trucks that tow regularly. Oil in the intake, blue smoke at startup.

Installation

  • This listing does not include the electronic actuator. Transfer your existing actuator if it tests good. Run ECM VGT calibration after startup.
  • Replace exhaust manifold and oil drain gaskets (included).
  • Flush oil feed line. Prime turbo with clean oil before first start.
  • Idle 3-5 minutes. Clear any stored DTC codes and verify VGT tracking through a scan tool.
